perimenopause - being prepared in the transition
menopause defined
Menopause is a normal neuroendocrine transition, not a disease.
Clinically, it is defined as the point at which a woman has gone 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period due to the natural decline in ovarian hormone production. While menopause itself is a single day on the calendar, the transition surrounding it—known as perimenopause and postmenopause—can span many years and influence nearly every system of the body, including the brain, nervous system, metabolism, bones, cardiovascular health, sleep, and emotional wellbeing.
