For many women, midlife is when ADHD finally becomes impossible to ignore. Hormonal changes can unmask long-standing patterns of inattention, overwhelm, and executive function challenges, offering an opportunity for greater understanding, appropriate support, and more effective ways of working with the brain—not against it.

ADHD in midlife

ADHD in midlife is often experienced differently than earlier in life. Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can make symptoms like distractibility, forgetfulness, overwhelm, and emotional sensitivity more noticeable, even in women who have successfully masked them for years.
